Who are you? My name is Ceridwen. I am twenty-three years old, and I currently live in Rochester, NY with my partners Liz and Andrea (![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small}
trousersofdoom and shemale, respectively). I love them so much.I am an AmeriCorps member, serving at the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley. I work as an assistant to their Youth Program. I get to be a full-time activist, and I get to help create a safe community within the walls of our center for queer youth in my city. It's the best job I've ever had.
I am a trans woman, and damn proud of it.
I love to write, I love to draw, and I hope to display plenty of both here.
What's with the jester theme? This is a character that has dotted my sketchbooks since I was a teenager. Her significance is two-fold for me.
There's the common perception of the fool, the entertaining clown, dancing and making jokes for everyone gathered. I've always found refuge in humor. Growing up, I hid my problems behind the mask of an inoffensive goofball, trying to make everyone like me. Even now, I use humor in my teaching work.
That leads to her other significance for me. A fool wasn't considered part of the strict class hierarchy of the time. Because of this, they were afforded quite a bit more freedom in their speech than other folks were. Often their jokes and riddles were veiled diatribes against the corruption of politics, the injustices they saw. Then again, sometimes it was just jokes and gossip, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Plus, I think she's cute.
